Baba Ramdev is a living legend we might say whose yoga has brought about a phenomenal impact, touching the lives of millions of people with its healing powers. His brand, Patanjali is equally well-known not only because the products are herbal but also because they are very much affordable and within the common man’s reach. This is a review of one of the best-selling products of the brand, the Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser/Shampoo which is loved by one and all. The shampoo comes in only one variant unlike the shampoos thronging the market, which claim to be for oily hair, dry hair, damaged and lifeless hair, hair loss, etc.

Product Claim: Useful in dryness and roughness of hair, prevents hair fall and improves hair glow.

Ingredients:

Reetha (Sapindus trifoliatus), Amla (Emblica officinalis), Bhringraj (Eclipta alba), Henna (Lawsonia innermis), Shikakai (Acacia concinna), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Bakuchi (Psoralea corylifolia), Haldi (Curcuma longa), Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia), Ghrit kumari (Aloe vera), Amba haldi (Curcuma amada)

Base material: SLES, NaOH, CMEA, Nacl, Cabopol-980, Orange Flavor

Preservatives: Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben

Price: Rs.35 for 100 ml; Rs.65 for 200 ml

Usage: Apply 2-3 ml of shampoo on wet hair, massage gently and rinse off with water

Shelf Life: 24 months from manufacturing date

My Experience with the Product:

This might sound like an advertisement (but Patanjali is not offering me any incentives for saying good things about them so read it as if it’s coming from a neutral person): Previously I had tried every brand of shampoo possible but none could stop my hair loss permanently. I started using Patanjali Kesh Kanti Hair Cleanser at the advice of an aunt and the results I have got with a year of usage are striking and sometimes it seems too good to be true. The product has effectively stopped my hair loss and not just controlled it. Throughout winter I have not had to use any anti-dandruff shampoo separately since this product is completely efficient in not letting the problem of dandruff show up at all. After continuous usage (about thrice weekly) for over a year, my hair looks and feels strengthened and revitalized. The biggest plus point is that the shampoo is completely herbal and has zero side effects. In one wash you would find all the dirt and grime removed from your hair unlike other shampoos which have to be reapplied. With each wash my hair stays soft, smooth and shining and I am not exaggerating when I say that! I do not use any conditioner after application of this shampoo and yet my hair remains very much soft and manageable.

Pros

1. Completely herbal remedy to counter all your hair problems
2. Nourishes hair, strengthens and revitalizes it
3. Removes dryness and roughness of hair exactly as it claims
4. Completely stops hair fall with continuous usage
5. Prevents dandruff and premature graying of hair
6. The cheapest hair cleanser available in the market which is as effective as any leading brand of shampoo

Cons

1. Smells of oranges which might not be liked by everyone
2. Only available at Baba Ramdev outlets or can be purchased online but not at every grocery store

Verdict:

Highly recommended for all! This product is extremely useful when used in conjunction with Divya Kesh Taila. A must buy if you are suffering from problems of hair loss and graying of hair. Look for the Patanjali hologram before buying the product in order to ascertain authenticity.
